We made it to 24 weeks

Preggy update #8

How far along? 24 weeks

Total weight gain? Loss of 300g

Maternity Clothes? Not really. Only a few items but need to get more with the colder days coming

Stretch Marks?  Still no new ones yet

Sleep: Sleeping well. Still haven't really been waking in the middle of the night yet. Have started with some leg cramps but I just flex my foot and the cramp is gone.

Best moment this week: Extra strong kicks being felt now.

Worst moment this week: Don't really have any worse moments

Miss Anything? Being able to take flu medication

Movement: Definitely feeling baby move now

Food cravings: I don't know how this works. I am liking Tempo chocolates and Schweppes Granadilla.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope. I can go most days without a touch of nausea

Gender: We found out it's a boy. And we think we have decided on a name :)

Labor Signs: Nope, not yet

Symptoms:  On and off headaches, bleeding gums, back ache now and again, blocked/stuffy nose

Belly Button in or out?  Starting to come out

Wedding rings on or off? Still on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

What I'm looking forward to: My next appointment 12 May. Feels like it's been so long since I saw this baby last. Oh and date night with hubby on Saturday!

What I'm nervous about: Starting to worry about labour and birth. I really want to try for a vbac. Just hoping for optimal birthing conditions and that the doctor is in favour.

Baby Name? We've decided on Ethan Brent.

Movement? Yip

Thoughts: Wish I was more diligent with posting on this blog. I am still trying to take everything in with this pregnancy and enjoy every single moment.

Preggy Update (Halfway Mark)

Preggy update #7

How far along? 20 weeks today - HALFWAY!

Total weight gain? Loss of 200g

Maternity Clothes? Nope but did buy some new "normal" clothes in a bigger size

Stretch Marks?  Still no new ones yet

Sleep: Sleeping well. Don't want to jinx it but I haven't yet woken up in the middle of the night to go wee. (And now, just because I did that, it's going to start tonight)

Best moment this week: Always feeling this baby move about and Matthew being extra loving lately

Worst moment this week: DH and I are fighting (not literally lol). It's too complicated to get into but it's stressing me out and causing lots of tension. But we will get through this and work it out.

Miss Anything? My husband - he's just working too much

Movement: Yip, lots of flutters and but no definite movement felt yet

Food cravings: Nothing really. Cravings seem to have gone.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope. I can go most days without a touch of nausea

Gender: We found out it's a boy. But we are struggling to badly with a name.

Labor Signs: Nope, not yet

Symptoms:  Still have the tummy cramps, headaches, bleeding gums, back ache now and again, blocked/stuffy nose

Belly Button in or out?  Staring to come out

Wedding rings on or off? Still on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

What I'm looking forward to: My next appointment (17 April) foetal anomaly scan

What I'm nervous about: Not feeling baby boy move around is causing some stress most days. Then I think of all the things that could go wrong, and what if's and so on. But then he will somehow kinda feel my stress and move just a little bit as if to say "Hey Mom, stop stressing, I'm ok in here!"

Baby Name? Can't come up with a name we both like. DH isn't being too helpful either. I like a certain name and would like to add DH's brother's name as his second name but I'm not sure if I should even mention it.

Movement? Yip

Thoughts: I can't believe we're halfway through already. I am loving being pregnant! I am not taking as much notice of this baby as I did when I was pregnant with Matthew, but I think that's normal for subsequent pregnancies.

Ramble ramble ramble

There is so much going on that I get overwhelmed and don't even know where to start with putting it all down. So I start, then I erase, and I start again, and then I just delete the whole thing and leave it for another day.

Can't believe I am halfway through my pregnancy already!?!?! The time is literally flying by. Things are going well with the pregnancy. Baby boy is still happy and I get to see him again next Thursday! I have been feeling flutters but nothing definitive. He seems to be moving a lot less than Matthew did. Can't wait for those harder kicks and for Mark and Matthew to start feeling them.

I seem to be losing weight. I'm down 200g from my pre-pregnancy weight. I am a bit concerned about it but I will wait to hear what my doc thinks when I see him in May. I had a bit of a flu a few weeks back. Doc gave me antibiotics and pain meds but I decided not to take them. I wasn't comfortable with them and thought to rather trust my instincts with this. As a result, I was in bed for 5 days and felt the after effects for another week thereafter. I am feeling loads better now, except that the dreaded sinuses have started messing around. I was waiting for this to happen but didn't expect it to be this bad.

I also think I may have gotten a bladder infection/UTI. Not sure if I should go to the doc immediately or wait it out a little. Hopefully it clears soon.

Mark is still working his 7am-7pm Monday to Sunday shift. Matthew sees him for about half hour every day and I think this is causing him to act out. I honestly don't know how to handle him anymore as he flat out ignores me when I speak to him. When I give him a little spank he just looks at me and tells me he's gonna tell his Daddy.

New doctor, Scarlet Fever, Baby names

I saw a new gynae yesterday and I like him. He's informative, talks quite a bit and he's got a dry sense of humor. He confirmed that baby is definitely a boy and says he is happy with everything. He says it looks like I'm going to have a normal pregnancy. Baby is weighing in between 151-160g's and is between 14-15cm's. Doctor says if everything is favourable closer to my due date, he doesn't see why we can't attempt a VBAC. I need to read up more on the pros and cons and what to do in the weeks leading up to the birth to prepare for a vbac. I really would like to experience this.

I am 16 weeks along and feeling every classic bit of pregnancy symptoms.
- headaches : I know that headaches are normal during pregnancy and I got them with Matthew as well. But having sinusitis and suffering with those headaches and only being able to take Panado is ridiculous.
- cramps : on and off whole day for the last few days now.
- ligament pains : now this is on a whole other level than what I felt with Matthew. Every time I get up from a sitting position, I get this pain on my right side that takes my breath away. I know it's normal but wow!
- constipation : why this one???

Matthew has taken to being extra careful around me. Always saying sorry if I even just moan from a cramp or something. He is so careful around my belly. I think he's going to be a wonderful big brother.

He's had a bit of a rough time this week when he got diagnosed with Scarlet Fever. Not something you hear of very often and yes, my child would contract the disease. He's healing and starting to feel better but still very clingy. Ai, hope this goes away quick!

After my last blog post about wanting a little girl, I feel like I am over that now. I am still a little envious about my friend getting her little girl in May and when I think about the pink and bows and ribbons in their future, that green eyes monster lurges. But I get to be surrounded by my boys. With soccer and cricket practice in the future. And lots of dirt and bicycles and grubby arms around my neck. I will always be blessed to have 2 little boys who will call me Mommy. I look forward to that :)

I need help with names. I have no clue where to start or what I like or anything. And Mark isn't much help either. He is going to expect me to come to him with a list of names and then he's going to knock each one off. lol I need to make a plan with this.

Looking forward to....... seeing baby again on 17 April with the detailed scan...... Seeing gynae on 12 May......... booking hospital bed......... having baby!

13 week Scan at 14 weeks

I went for my 13 week nuchal fold scan on Friday. Because hubby couldn't accompany me, I asked the sonographer that if she can see what the sex is, she must please write it down so that hubby and I can "find out" together.

Everything looks good with baby. My risk for Down's is 1 out of 196500 or something like that. She said that baby is growing on track and that everything is where it should be.

I had Matthew with us for the visit and he was very restless. He wasn't very interested in what was happening on the telly and just wanted to walk around and touch things. He did sit for like 2 minutes and then commented when the sonographer switched to the 4D view, "Mommy, your baby is orange". lol had a good laugh at that.

So the sonographer says that she's not 100% sure and we mustn't go out and buy colour clothes or paint the room or anything. She wrote down what she thinks the sex is and as soon as I could, I called Mark and opened the paper with the sex on. She wrote down....... Boy.

I actually knew it was a boy during our scan because as she was looking for the sex, I was looking at the monitor and I could see exactly what I saw with Matthew. It was very obvious to me. And even though it was so 'obvious' to me, I can't help but keep hoping it was just the umbilical cord in the way and it's actually a girl. I need to get over this soon and get used to the idea that I'm having another boy. It's really hard when I was hoping with all my heart for a girl. Which was wrong to do in the first place.

Here's looking forward to seeing this baby again on the 17th. And trying to figure out a name.

Another update

Preggy update #6

How far along? 14 weeks

Total weight gain? 2 kgs

Maternity Clothes? Not yet but I need to get me some more elasticated pants.

Stretch Marks?  Still no new ones yet

Sleep: Sleeping fairly well. Haven’t yet been waking during the night to go to the loo (touch wood)

Best moment this week: Feeling stronger movements

Worst moment this week: Nothing really

Miss Anything? Not really

Movement: Feeling stronger pushes. Don't know how else to describe it :)

Food cravings: Still the Granny Smith apples cut up with salt sprinkled over

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nausea is lessening and I am so happy about it!

Gender: We've decided we're going to find out

Labor Signs: Nope, not yet

Symptoms:  Still those groin pain like muscle spasms whenever I turn in bed.

Belly Button in or out?  Still in for now

Wedding rings on or off? Still on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

What I'm looking forward to: Tomorrow's appointment

What I'm nervous about: That everything will okay at tomorrow's appointment. That this baby is healthy and strong.

Baby Name? I haven't even started thinking about this.

Movement? Little pushes

Thoughts: Getting excited about finding out the sex of this baby. Then we can start thinking of names and I can start shopping. And we can start referring to the baby as Matthew's sister/brother. I really wanted to wait until the birth to find out the sex but it makes more sense this way.

And we've hit the 2nd trimester

Preggy update #5

How far along? 13 weeks (YAY 2nd trimester!)

Total weight gain? Not sure, haven’t weighed in 2 weeks

Maternity Clothes? Nope, but having to use elastic bands with my jeans

Stretch Marks?  Still no new ones yet

Sleep: Sleeping fairly well. Haven’t yet been waking during the night to go to the loo (touch wood)

Best moment this week: Started feeling little pops. Loving it! Means not much longer to go before I feel those real kicks and punches. Felt Matthew’s first movement (pops) at 13 weeks and this one at 12 weeks.

Worst moment this week: Nothing really

Miss Anything? Honestly I miss not being nauseas. The constant nausea is killing me

Movement: Started feeling little pops from week 12.

Food cravings: Granny Smith apples cut up with salt sprinkled over

Anything making you queasy or sick: Nothing specific just this constant nausea.

Gender: Still having made a decision whether we’re going to find out or not. But I think we’re leaning towards finding out.

Labor Signs: Nope, not yet

Symptoms:  Some groin pain like muscle spasms whenever I turn in bed.

Belly Button in or out?  Still in for now but I have this insanely deep navel, and it seems to have come out quite a bit

Wedding rings on or off? Still on

Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy

What I'm looking forward to: My next appointment (28 Feb) where we will be doing the nuchal translucency scan

What I'm nervous about: Nothing at the moment

Baby Name? I haven't even started thinking about this.

Movement? Pops :)

Thoughts: I love being pregnant but the fact that I don’t feel like doing anything is getting me a bit down. I have no inclination to be at work and when I am there, I slack so badly and then feel guilty. Same thing at home. I don’t feel like cooking or cleaning and then feel guilty when hubby does some cleaning. I need to get my act together and get my head in the right space. Soon!
